As the startup ecosystem in the Philippines grows, entrepreneurs are faced with the challenge of making their brands stand out and resonate with their target audience amid the tightening competition. Many businesses, in particular smaller operations, are hard-pressed to develop the right PR and communication strategy or find a partner to help them. Most of them find the costs involved prohibitive and technology inaccessible.

The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), the country’s premier organization for PR professionals, underscores the vital role that public relations plays in brand building among entrepreneurs in its upcoming 26th National PR Congress. The two-day event, which will run on September 24 and 25, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, will host startup experts to talk about how to leverage PR and technology in building and growing their business in the session titled “Building Credibility for Small Businesses.”

The country’s startup industry made a 16-point leap from its 2017 ranking to clinch the 54th place out of 100 countries, with key cities such as Metro Manila (84th from +882 in 2017), Cebu City (293rd from +241 in 2017) and Pasig City (546th)  making huge contributions, according to the Startup Ecosystem Rankings Report 2019, a global startup study conducted by research center StartupBlink. The report credits programs employed by both the government and private institutions in boosting entrepreneurship in the country.

With the startup scene in the Philippines expected to continue flourishing as more foreign investors and local business veterans lend their support to the industry, entrepreneurs will all the more need the tools and knowledge to differentiate themselves and establish their market footprint.

“For the first time in PR Congress history, PRSP opens its doors to entrepreneurs to show them the true value of PR and the role it plays in growing their businesses. This session will be represented by experts from the startup and PR industry in order to present fair discussion between key players: the entrepreneurs and the PR professionals,” said Andy Saracho, APR, PRSP president.

The 26th National Public Relations Congress offers discounts to PRSP members, students, members of the academe, government employees, NGOs, senior citizens and PWDs. Please contact Monique Galza through moniquegalza.prsp@ardent.com.ph or 631-0511 for more information.
